Changes to Treatment Room Services with Carluke Health Centre

From Monday, 5 November 2012 the NHS Lanarkshire Treatment Room will be running an appointment only service. Patients who require the services of the treatment room as directed by their GP or Practice Nurse should telephone the NHSL Reception on 01555 777500 to make an appointment. The NHSL Reception team within the Health Centre will deal with any appointment queries or cancellations.

NEW DIY HEALTH CHECK AREA

WATING ROOM 1

Try out our DIY Health Check Area in Waiting Room 1. This facility, using simple touchscreen technology, allows you to check your blood pressure, height, weight and complete health questionnaires avoiding the need to wait for an appointment with your GP or Practice Nurse.

The results are saved to your medical record and an alert sent to a member of the Team for action if required.

It is available 8am - 6pm, Monday to Friday. Just ask as Reception.

St Luke's Medical Practice.

We chose this name as St.Luke's Tower is a well known Carluke landmark, visable from our wing in our new health centre. Tower
Also, St.Luke, in the Bible, was a physician.

We hope you like our new name, and our lovely new Health Centre.

Thank you for your patience during the time of our move.

We realise that we are continuing a heritage of medical care as a GP practice in Carluke.
Since the NHS began in 1948, Carluke has been served by a succession of respected GPs. Dr.Cuthbert, then Dr.Sommerville practiced out of a property in Clyde Street.
Dr.Paterson joined with Dr.Sommerville in 1958, and for a few years, the practice was housed in the 'Templar's Hall'.
In about 1976, the practice moved to our previous premises in Market Place, where Dr.Paterson was joined by Dr.Ann Jackson.

Gradually, with more doctors joining, and changes in medicine, we feel that we 'outgrew' the old health centre, and plans were made to move to Chapel Street.

Our Doctors

Dr.Stewart and Dr.Innes both started in the practice in 1984.
Dr.Boyd joined in 1991, Dr.Gemmill in 1992, and Dr.MacDonald in 1994. Our team was completed by Dr.Arnott in 1998.

Open Access Appointments

We run an Open Access clinic between
8am - 9.30am each weekday morning.

We are unable to accommodate a lot of people waiting in the shared waiting area in the foyer. We would ask you NOT to turn up too early. The receptionists will be unable to take names before 8am.
The Health Centre doors do not open before 8.00am. Patients with a booked appointment (extended hours) are admitted individually by pressing the button at the back door.

We will endeavour to see patients as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your patience.
